History of the Patna High Court
Patna High Court Gate No. 1, ratified by the Governor-General of India on March 22, 1912, to mark the 100th Anniversary of the Patna High Court. The foundation stone of the High Court Building was laid on Monday, December 1, 1913 by Sir William Harding of the Penhurst, the late Vice-President of India and Governor-General of India. On completion of this the building of the Patna High Court was formally opened by the same Viceroy on 3 February 1916. Sir Justice Edward Maynard des Champs Chamier was the first Chief Justice of the High Court of Patna. From 18 April 2015, the Patna High Court has planned a centenary celebration of the year of completion of 100 years of establishment and this occasion was inaugurated by the President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, headed by Bihar Governor Mr. Keshari Nath Tripathi and India. Chief Justice of Justice, Mr. Justice H. L. Chief Justice of Dattu and Patna High Court, Justice Shri. Narasimha Reddy chronological order made by the Governor-General of India on 1912 - 22 March 1912. 1913 - On December 1, 1913, the foundation stones of the High Court building were kept. 1916 - Completion of the Patna High Court building on 3 February 1916 The High Court actually started working on 1 March 1916. 1948 - Patna High Court used jurisdiction over areas of Bihar and Orissa province on July 26, 1948, when a separate High Court was set up for Orissa. 1972 - Patna High Court opens a circuit bench in Ranchi 1976 - Circuit Bench of the Patna High Court in Ranchi becomes a permanent back. 2000 - Circuit Bench of the Patna High Court in Ranchi, under the Bihar Reorganization Act, 2000, became Jharkhand High Court in November 2000. 2015 - Starting from April 18, 2015, the centenary celebrations begin.
